HARTS LAKE DIRTY DOZEN
Welcome to the 6th tournament of the Hook & Paddle ~ Harts Lake ~ sponsored by Power-Pole Total Boat Control -- where the weather was overcast, warm, rainy, misty, hot, and muggy... what else would you want when targeting seemingly endless species. Anglers had their choice of fishing the weeds in Harts, fishing the weeds in Coy, or venturing into the Saint John River to see what they could find.
Not only did we kick off the new Fredericton Capital Region Tourism Clash competition, we also set a new season record with 50 anglers, but one angler managed to set yet another HP record fish length! Not bad for the Arcadia Municipal Government tournament, with 278 registered fish caught, measured, and photographed, and many many more caught. But you know your day is going Good when your Dylan Wood who ran out of species to catch by noon. Dylan was the cream of the crop landing 9 species, with some Big Bass, and a 17.50-inch eel to claim his first win on the season. With 133.75 points, Dylan claims the 1st place Atlantic Laser Works plaque, Doiron Outfitters Yeti, and 13 Fishing Canada rod as the winner of Harts Lake. Peter Nyenhuis found himself in second place with 125 points, after landing 8 species including another huge 31 inches of sweet Americal Eel - claiming the Lucky Strike Bait Works landing net. Travis Melanson lands in 3rd with the only chub on the day, and setting a new HP record with his 32-inch eel, Melanson finished with 122 points, claiming the Scotty Fishing Products prize. Gage Nyenhuis continues his great season finishing in 4th place with 113 points, landing the only sucker on the day, winning the Walters Baits top youth angler plaque, and also winning the Rapala #CrushCity bass prize pack with a huge 20.50-inch Smallmouth! Greg McLaughlin rounds out the top 5 with 8 species for 105 points, including a nice eel and claiming the Maritime Madness Hot Sauce prize pack.
With 32 points, Andrew Burtt won the X Zone Lures THE ROD GLOVE Target Species Lunker Combo with a 24.25-inch chain pickerel and a 7.75-inch redbreast sunfish. Congrats to Rob Nickerson, winner of the Walters Baits prize draw, John Frazee winner of the 506 Tackle Supply prize draw, and Corey Connor winner of the Power-Pole Total Boat Control Micro anchor with battery pack and pole.
The Von Paving HP Elimination Bracket has been updated, and we have a Final 4 -- Gage Nyenhuis vs Dylan Wood and Travis Melanson vs Jean Muzzerall good luck to all as we look forward to the second half of the back-to-back weekend in Hook & Paddle ~ Oromocto ~ tomorrow!
