MCADAM THE BOULDER AND THE BEAUTIFUL
Welcome to the 4th stop in the Hook & Paddle Series -- almost halfway through the summer series! This was 42 anglers first chance to fish a Hook & Paddle tournament in McAdam, many pre-fished to get an idea of what Lake Wauklahegan had in store, with great overcast weather, and wind that picked up throughout the day, McAdam did not disappoint.
Those who managed to avoid the most boulders in the water, and save precious parts of their kayaks likely had a decent day. But the fishing was fast and furious, as most anglers were keying in on 4 species in particular, everyone caught largemouth bass, most caught smallmouth, chain pickerel, and sunfish, those anglers that managed to find yellow perch, white perch, and chub, ended up moving up the totem pole on the day.
One angler found those 7 species, and not only that, but he also tied for the Target Species of yellow perch + white perch bonus points, and managed to set a new Hook & Paddle record with a 16-inch chub -- David Owen claims the top spot in McAdam, claiming his first Atlantic Laser Works plaque, Doiron Outfitters Yeti, X Zone Lures THE ROD GLOVE Lunker prize pack, Bassdash prize pack and not only did he finish with 104 points on the day he also won the 8 Fans chest waiters draw to boot -- what a haul for winning his first HP tournament! Alex Hickey also finds himself on the podium for the first time in his HP career - as he found 7 species for 100.75 points, also claiming his share of the X Zone Lures prize pack for target species and the Walters Baits top youth trophy, along with 13 Fishing Canada. Bryan Cawthra was 3rd on the podium with 7 species for 98.50 points, claiming the Minnow Tackle Shop prize pack, just edging out Rene Pelletier in 4th with 97.25, followed by Ivan Khimich in 5th with 90.50 points. Charlene Pelletier won the Bubba Scale donated by The Gun Dealer, Andrew Burtt was the winner of the 506 Tackle Supply terminal tackle box draw. Mellissa Pelletier also split the X Zone LuresTHE ROD GLOVE lunker prize.
This was the conclusion of the new competition called the SOUTHWEST NB SHOWDOWN where we combined the total scores from East Branch Dam and McAdam to determine the winner -- with a total of 147.50 points - Bryan Cawthra takes home $500 for his 1st place finish, Travis Melanson was just a couple points behind with 145.75 and takes home $400 for second place. Rene Pelletier finishes 3rd for $300 with 142.50, Alex Hickey in 4th with 139 and wins $200, while David Owen slips into 5th for $100 with his win today giving him 136.50. Thank you so much to Discover SW New Brunswick Fundy Shores and Village of McAdam mayors and councilors who were there to greet us, support the series, and welcome the HP anglers to their communities!
This also wraps up the next round of the Von Paving HP Elimination bracket, good luck to all the competitors that have moved on to the next round. Youth and Overall standings will be updated after Woodstock.
